What is Engane.AI?
Engane.AI (എങ്ങനെ.AI) is a Malayalam-first AI assistant. You can chat by typing in Manglish or Malayalam, or talk to it in full voice mode — and it replies naturally in Malayalam.
Do I have to type in Malayalam script?
No. Type the way you already text — "enthelum sradha und" — and Engane transliterates it and understands you. You can also type in English or Malayalam script if you prefer.
Can I talk to it instead of typing?
Yes. Voice mode lets you speak in Malayalam or English, and Engane responds out loud in a natural Malayalam voice — great for hands-free use or if typing is slow for you. Spoken replies powered by Sarvam AI (Bulbul v3), in an AI-generated voice.
Which AI does Engane use?
Engane's Malayalam chat and voice are powered by Sarvam AI, an Indic language AI company. Malayalam and English text replies are written by Sarvam-105B (conversational variant), a language model from Sarvam AI, on every plan. Anthropic's Claude, through Amazon Bedrock, answers messages with a photo or document, stands in if that model is briefly unavailable, answers on the Marathi early-access page, and writes the summary when you tap Summarize on a long conversation. In the guessing game under Games, the final guess, and any turn the usual model cannot serve, is answered by Anthropic's Claude through Amazon Bedrock. Spoken replies in voice mode and chat are read aloud by Sarvam's Bulbul v3 text-to-speech model in an AI-generated voice (the Marathi early-access page uses your browser's built-in voice). On phones and in the Android app, voice mode and the Simple-layout chat mic turn your speech into text with Sarvam's speech-to-text; so does the chat mic in desktop browsers without built-in speech recognition, such as Firefox. Elsewhere — voice mode and the chat mic in desktop Chrome, Edge and Safari, and the Advanced-layout mic — your browser's own speech recognition is used, and the browser's provider handles that audio (Google, for Chrome). The Marathi early-access page also uses the browser's own speech recognition on every device. Engane keeps no voice recordings; only the text becomes your message. About every fifth message you send in a conversation, and right after you answer one of Engane's profile questions, Engane also sends your recent messages to Anthropic's Claude Haiku 4.5 (through Amazon Bedrock) to learn your preferences, so replies can be more personal.

No. Engane is an independent app made by Thompson Consulting (OPC) Private Limited. It uses Sarvam AI's public APIs, which any developer can use, and is not made, owned, sponsored or endorsed by Sarvam.
Is Engane.AI like ChatGPT in Malayalam?
It is an AI chat assistant in the same spirit, built Malayalam-first: it replies in natural Malayalam, understands Manglish, has a real voice mode, and knows Kerala — today’s news, gold rate and local services. See “Which AI does Engane use?” above for the models behind it. ChatGPT is a trademark of OpenAI; Engane is not affiliated with OpenAI.
What is the Naatil.com integration?
Engane is connected to Naatil.com, a live Kerala services directory. So when you ask for a nearby hospital, a shop, bus routes or emergency numbers, it pulls real local listings into the chat instead of guessing. Kerala news comes from a live web search.
Can it help me study for SSLC, Plus Two or PSC exams?
Yes. Ask it to explain a topic in simple Malayalam, quiz you, make short notes or check your answers — in Malayalam or English. Like any AI it can make mistakes, so double-check important facts.
Is it free?
Free plan: up to 25 messages a day (up to 5 of them spoken), within a ₹250 monthly free-usage limit. No credit card. When you need more, buy credits from ₹10 or a plan from ₹400 a month.
How do credits work?
1 credit = ₹1. Each reply is charged in proportion to what it actually costs to produce. On Sarvam-105B a typical text reply uses well under one credit (about 0.2–0.5); a full voice turn (listening, the reply and its spoken audio) about 2–5 credits, depending on how long the spoken reply is; and a message with a photo or document (answered by Claude) a few credits. Credits are valid for 12 months and work on both the website and the Android app.
Is there an Android app?
Yes — Engane.AI is on Google Play. Search “Engane.AI” or use the Google Play button on this page. Your account, chats and credits are the same on the app and the website.
Is there an iPhone app?
The iPhone app is coming soon to the App Store. Meanwhile engane.ai works in Safari — tap Share → Add to Home Screen to use it like an app.
Does it remember me?
It learns your name, location, preferred formality and interests to personalise your replies. This is used only to improve your own experience — see our Privacy Policy for details, and you can delete your account and data at any time.
What languages are supported?
Malayalam and English today, with Marathi in early access. Malayalam is the primary, first-class experience.
